Does The Geek Market Read This Stuff?

P2657

Seriously, can YOU read something this busy? I can’t!

Asperger’s Syndrome is in the ‘autism fan,’ and though they are highly functional and verbal, people with Asperger’s react poorly to overstimulation. There are a lot of Asperger’s people in U.S. Geekdom. Geeks are a key market for Best Buy.

So I’m confused by these irritating, visually vibrating Best Buy adverts. Who’s reading them? Not the Geeks; they know what they want and they don’t read newspapers anyway. Maybe it’s their parents who are looking for a geeky gift. Best Buy is a market-savvy company, so newspaper inserts like this must be effective.

But for whom?
